Standards-Based Instructional Design
Creating Effective, Standards-Based Physical Education Experiences For Your Students
Here is what I am confident you will be able to know, do, and understand by the end of the Standards-Based Instructional Design in Physical Education #PhysEdU course
- Understand the purpose of effective physical education and the role of standards-based instructional design in achieving that purpose.
- Break down standards-based instructional design into its five critical steps and explain what each step can look like in the context of effective physical education.
- Design and create standards-based learning experiences for your students in physical education.
The Standards-Based Instructional Design in Physical Education comes with a student workbook that was created to help you explore each component of the SBID process. The workbook also comes with blank templates that will help guide your thinking as you design standards-based lessons and units for your students.
Also included with the course is my Chasing & Fleeing Games Teacher Pack. Although I typically sell this resource on the Shop for $12, I decided to include it as part of this course since it is used to showcase my own design process in developing a standards-based lesson.
Finally, students who complete the Standards-Based Instructional Design in Physical Education course will also receive a registered certificate that serves as evidence of having completed the training. This can a) let you celebrate your hard work, b) allow you to apply for funding to register for the course*, and c) apply for professional development credits*.
*in states/provinces were applicable.
Your Instructor
As the founder of ThePhysicalEducator.com, I have spent most of the past decade developing resources and learning opportunities for physical educators around the world. A physical educator myself, I understand how important the role of physical education is in a child’s development and what steps can be taken to help ensure that we are developing effective, meaningful experiences for the students we get to serve. In between lesson planning, teaching, and tying shoelaces, I have travelled the world as a keynote speaker and presenter at some of the best professional development opportunities our profession has to offer. When I haven’t been able to work with teachers face-to-face, I have dedicated every non-teaching second to supporting physical education teacher development through ThePhysicalEducator.com’s blog, resources, podcast, videos, and live events. I would not have launched #PhysEdU unless I was absolutely confident in my ability to help you take your teaching to the next level. I hope you will consider learning with me as I would be truly honoured to help you grow as a teacher!
